I have been a Baseball Mom for 4 years now. Last year my son’s coach really adopted super pregnant me and my 5 kids. She had all the things that she brought and shared with me so we were comfortable. I’ve decided that I want to be that Baseball mom from now on. This woman seriously helped me tremendously. I had my 6th baby half way through that baseball season and now I am “That” mom. These are the baseball essentials that got me through last season super pregnant and then with a newborn and are now getting me through the season with 2 boys in baseball on different teams and 4 littles always tagging along.
*Disclaimer: You do not NEED these items to be a good mom to a child playing baseball and saying that they are “essential” is hyperbolic, just to be clear.

Baseball Essentials for the Family
For Health and Wellness
WaterWipes These are the best baby wipes I’ve ever used. They stay wet, they are sturdy wipe that doesn’t tear easily, and I love that they only use water and Citric Acid.
ThinkKids Safe Mineral Suncreen I like to use mineral sunscreens on my kids that have less carcinogenic ingredients, but still protect against the sun. This is easy to spread and rubs in pretty well, too.
Thinksport Kids SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen Stick I really like the ThinkKids Stick. My kids find it so easy to put the sunscreen on themselves, which is a win-win.
Badger Bug Spray I don’t like to use Deet on my small children unless we are camping or hiking deep in the brush. For the kids baseball games, I find that this bug spray works so well and that is saying something because we live in a very mosquito heavy swampy area.
First Aid Kit I always try to have a First Aid Kit with me anywhere I go. I like this one because it’s all inclusive, it has everything I need, and comes in it’s own case.
Ice Packs I love having ice packs. Obviously, they can be used on wounds, but when my kids get super hot, they come in handy to help cool off the kids.
Don’t forget paper towels and tissues too!
For Comfort
Oversized Fully Padded Camping Chair This is an awesome camping chair. It’s nice to have one chair that can seat 2 adults or 3-4 kids. They love it! It’s easy to expand and fold up. It’s also easy to clean and is very comfortable.
Collapsible Utility Wagon This totally necessary if you are bringing all the things. I love this one because it actually fits into the trunk of my van without have to fold it up and is light enough that I can lift it out without breaking my back. Also it fits 2-3 toddlers too.
Crown Shades Pop Up Canopy This may seem over-the-top, but it has saved me from sunburn, overheating, and just being a huge a grumpus. I’ve also used it to cover the boy’s dugout because they were baking in the sun and miserable. It totally worked out well.
Large Umbrella This is totally necessary for rain or sun. We have the giant one so it covers the entire camping couch.
Battery Powered Camping Fan This was amazing when I was pregnant last year, so I got one this year. I keep it near the dugout sometimes too if the boys need a cool down. I just charge it the morning of the game and it’s ready to go for the whole game.
For Hunger
Bentgo Easyboxes I have one of these for each of my kiddos. Some days we have dinner at the game and I’ll throw a lunner (lunch-dinner) in the boxes and the kids love them. I will say that the compartments are not waterproof, though.
Snackle Box If I’m not packing a lunner, I’m packing a Snackle Box. I love putting yummy mostly snacks like: fruits, vegetables, crackers, chips, candy, lunch meats, cheese, etc.
ThermoFlask I love these. I have the giant 40oz one. I try to drink 100oz of water a day, so drinking 2 of these gets me close to my goal. I also love that they are metal because it makes them super durable. I will say it annoys me that it doesn’t fit in normal cupholders… it does, however, fit in my Hondo Odyssey’s cupholder though.
Soft Insulated Cooler This is necessary if you’re bring items that need to be kept cold like drinks, the Bentgo boxes, and/or the Snackle Box. I like the soft ones because they are lighter, but still fit a lot in them.
Wonderful Pistachios This is our nut of choice for baseball games. We like how labor intensive they are because it keeps the keeps occupied. Plus they are tasty.
Archer 100% Grass-Fed Beef Minis I like these because they are 100% Grass-fed beef. I don’t tolerate beef sticks that aren’t 100% beef. Plus these are yummy. My kids love them and so do I. I usually buy them from Costco.
Mott’s No Sugar Added Applesauce These are one of the easiest snacks to bring anywhere. I love applesauce pouches.
To Wear
Women’s hat I love this hat. It works with a ponytail and doesn’t look weird on me, which is a plus.
Women’s sunglasses I love these! I have 2 pairs. They are cute, cheap, and pretty durable. I have had them for years.
Baseball Essentials for Kids
To Wear
Kid’s Hats (2-pack) My daughter uses these every day at school recess. My kids are very fair skinned so keeping them from getting sunburned can be a struggle. These are nice because they cover a lot.
Boy’s Sunglasses My boys’ like these and the fact that they come in a 3 pack is nice for large families with multiple boys.
Girl’s Sunglasses These are so nice and my daughter really likes them. That being said, they will not hold up against a lawn mower…
To Use
Kid’s REDUCE Tumbler I like bringing reusable water bottles for my kids so that they don’t need to go through a million plastic water bottles. I also like to water bottles that wont let off as many microplastics if I can help it.
Girl’s Camp Chair Having my kids each bring a camp chair is nice so they aren’t fighting over the couch. This one is super cute and my daughter loves it.
Boy’s Camp Chair with Umbrella Same reason above, but I do like that this one has an umbrella for sun or rain.
To Do
Big Bubble Wands What kid doesn’t like bubbles. The wands hold a lot of bubbles. I also like that the wands come in different colors because my kids each have a different color that they gravitate towards so there is no fighting.
Coloring Book My kids love this coloring book, but any coloring book will do.
Crayola Twistable Crayons I like these twistable crayons because they don’t break as easily and they are harder for my babies to eat them. Obviously, regular crayons work too.
Diamond Sticker Art This is one of my kids’ favorite activities to do while they watch their brothers play baseball. It keeps them occupied and focused on something that keeps them from destroying everything.
Conclusion
You can go to your kid’s baseball games with nothing and it will be fine, but I find that having a comfortable place to sit, yummy snacks to munch on, an activity to do, and a fan on a hot day makes the experience more enjoyable for myself and my kids. I want to be able to focus on my child playing the game which is made easier when my littles-in-tow are satisfied and occupied.
I hope that this post helps you find an item or two that makes your kid’s games a little more enjoyable. Let me know if there are other items that your family uses at games or practices by leaving a comment below.
