I love finding the perfect items for my kids’ Easter baskets. This year I am hoping to come up with some really practical, fun, Faith-filled, and preferably consumable items. In the past I have loaded up on Dollar Tree toys and candy that last a couple of days, break, or add to the clutter in my home. This was necessary for us in recent years when the budget was very tight. I hope to be a little more intentional about the items we get for the kids that will last a long time or be consumed and leave less of an imprint on my home and the environment.

The Easter basket ideas on this list are for children, toddlers, and babies. A lot of the items on my list come from some of my favorite Catholic Small Businesses and so I hope it encourages you to buy small this year. Although the list is separated by age group, your child may enjoy an item in a different group so keep that in mind.
Easter Basket Ideas for Kids 5-10
- Coloring Books- You can never go wrong with coloring books. You can get decent ones from the Dollar Tree. I like these from Amazon because they strike the fancy of what my kids are currently into.
– Artistic Disney Lover (the pictures in this one are so beautiful!)
- Sunglasses- Easter (for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere) means Spring is here, or almost here if you live where I do. We usually have lost or broken all of our sunglasses from last year so it’s time to buy some more and the kids’ Easter baskets is the perfect opportunity. I love this brand on Amazon, I have now bought two pairs (that didn’t break) and they are perfect, stylish, and durable. My 4-year-old daughter does love these too, plus they are cheaper.
- Cups or water bottles- My kids really like the Zak brand, and they are durable and leak proof (when actually closed), plus easy to clean.
- Card Games (Crazy Eights, Bible Bingo, etc.) This is a great pack of card games my MIL got
us last year.
- Puzzles
- Bird House Kit My kids got birdhouse kits for Christmas and I cannot wait to build and decorate with them.
- Art Supplies
- Hair Accessories
- Bath bombs
- Pocket Watercolor Painting Books Are so awesome! They have the paint on the page, it comes with a brush, so all you need is water. It is a game changer.

- Sidewalk chalk This sidewalk chalk is perfect for Easter because they are egg-shaped. I know totally unnecessary, but very fun.
- Craft Supplies
- Waterwow bo
oks I love these books. There is no mess because the pictures appear with only water and they can be used over and over again. All of my kids love these books.
- Saint Sticker Sheets
- Sticker books I love these reusable sticker books. This one is Easter themed and is adorable.
- Play doh
- Bubbles These are nice for toddlers because they are in a no-spill container. I hate when my kids make me hold the bubble dispenser so they can splash me with all of suds… Not fun.
- Garden tools I love the idea of putting items in the baskets that are functional and interactive. This year we are making a garden and so these tools will be needed for my little helpers.
- Gardening gloves
- Match box cars
- Stuffed animals This plush Noah’s Ark is adorable. We got this a few years ago and my kids still love it.
- Egg shakers These were a HUGE hit in my house and none of them were used as weapons.
- Sensory balls We have literally had these for 7 years and all of my kids, especially my 2yo and my sensory sensitive child, love them.
- Playsilks
- Hair Accessories
- Paint Sticks These are awesome! I am not the kind of mom who likes to do a whole lot of crafts (except for coloring) because I hate mess, but these are nice.
- Louie the Lamb We got this for Christmas this year and my kids love it. It says the Hail Mary, Glory Be, and Our Father. All of my kids have been delayed speakers, so this has been nice for them to get more repetition outside of our Family Rosary. I mentioned Louie the Lamb in this post about Praying the Rosary with Your Littles.

Books for Easter Baskets
I have to tell you that with my oldest being 7 years old and only just starting to read I don’t feel confident telling you what ages are appropriate for these books, but all of my children 2-7 enjoy them. I also love putting books in their Easter baskets even if they are from last year because my kids don’t seem to notice or mind. So don’t feel pressured to buy all of them, but some of these have become my kids’ favorites. Also, some of these are Easter related, Faith related, or Spring related.

Conclusion
I do want to make a closing disclosure for this post. Please don’t think that you need to spend hundreds of dollars on your kids’ Easter baskets. Some of these items are on the pricier side and if you have multiple children, it is not a reasonable expectation that you would buy all of the items on the list. I usually get my kids one higher priced item (maybe $20 each) and then fill the rest with smaller more inexpensive items. You don’t even have to do that. My best tip when trying to buy frugally is to follow these amazing small businesses on Instagram or sign up for their newsletter emails. We were able to get the mini-plush dolls from Shining Light Dolls for all of the kids last year because we got them on sale. Don’t break the bank.
Easter is about more than what is in the basket. It is about Christ, our Redeemer.
I hope you all have an amazing Easter full of fun, family, love and laughter! You all are in my prayers during this season of Lent. Please feel free to leave a comment of other items you like to put in your baskets. I love to add to my list of Easter basket ideas.
